To the Knee to Boot!

Knee high boots are becoming a silent phenomenon..and flat ones to boot! Riding boots specifically are walking the streets of major cities and trendy suburbs. I am not a fan of most flats but I do appreciate style and comfort...as we enter into the winter months, warm boots are essential, however these same boots can be worn in to the spring and fall!! Pair your boots with floral dress for spring.. A dress with a lot of volume and color.. A long baby doll dress or super short one revealing some flesh above the knee while the boots cover everything below the knee...flirty and sexy...for those of us who simply MUST have a heel with all shoes, opt for the long dress or short shorts with your sky high boots...again nothing too tight a fit...u will border on looking like a lady of the night...never a good look, even if u r one. ;)
For those of u having trouble finding boots that fit your leg (the boot leg is too narrow in the calf) a la serena williams- there is a new design and feature to riding boots...some designers have incorporated a second zipper at the top of leg opening that can be adjusted to fit your leg..also try slouchy boots... These boots give (stretch) more without looking bulky.. For those with the opposite problem ( the boot leg is too wide) a la fisherman boots- try showing off your boots over your fav skinny or straght leg jean or pant! tucking in the pant leg will provide more volume.... the mouth of some most leather and suede boots can be altered to fit your leg...some designers like Charles David offer a narrower leg to accommodate those that are calf challenged like myself...

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes!!

during these dire economic times, most people are not running out to the shops to purchase the latest trends or to replace any classic staples...even if you can afford them....may i suggest keeping your irreplaceable and expensive items looking new by going the extra mile for proper maintenance? you can take your wardrobe to the dry cleaners or hand wash them in woolite but what about your shoes? replacing shoes can be more costly than any part of your wardrobe...for men and women...City Slippers from designer johan ringlad who brought you swims (for men)did just that....city slippers will protect anything from your ballet slipper to your high heels from the rain, muck and pounding the city pavement..you slip them over the bottom of your shoes like galoshes and are barely noticeable (unless you want them to be) they come in a variety of colors and different sizes (from 1" to 4" heels)...cs retail from $110 - $160...a wise investment when you are wearing $500 shoes and running late for date and have to walk 4 blocks to meet him! You can pick these up at saks or bloomingdales...check them out and let me know what you think
